The Government School for Girls in the town of Victoria shows an average daily attendance of 64 against 133 on the roll. The total average daily attendance at all the 30 Government Schools, including the Central School, amounted only to 1,193 for 1876, whilst Mr. Stewart had 2,171 on his lists. Eleven other schools received Government assistance under what is called the Grant-in-Aid scheme.
